The Leelanau Peninsula is located in the Northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Surrounded by water on three sides, the Leelanau Peninsula offers a wide variety of recreation, attractions and culture. Here are just a few ideas:

  • Ride your bike on miles of dedicated trails.
  • Hike through the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with spectacular views of Lake Michigan.
  • Spend quality time with your family at Empire beach

  • Wander the shops and galleries of Suttons Bay, Glen Arbor or Northport.

Village Hop
Explore other neighboring villages. Spend a day visiting the nearby small towns of Suttons Bay, Leland, Omena, Lake Leelanau, Cedar, Empire, and Glen Arbor. As you stroll down main streets you'll naturally slow down to enjoy wonderful shops, fine art galleries and the aroma of an excellent meal at a fine local restaurant.

BATA Summer Fun Ride
Our local shuttle will bring you throughout Leelanau County! Hop on in Suttons Bay (at the Library) and explore our Neighboring Villages! This fixed route service opperates between Leland Marina, Northport Marina, Leelanau Sands Casino, and Lake Leelanau. Spend the day shopping or enjoy the other beaches with this fun way to "hop" from village to village.

Grand Traverse Lighthouse
Marking the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, the Grand Traverse Lighthouse has guided sailors and their ships safely into the Manitou Passage, Straits of Mackinaw and Grand Traverse Bay for nearly 150 years.

Northport Community Art Center
Located in Northport, Michigan, the NCAC presents four series of music and theatrical productions each year showcasing top regional talent.

The Leelanau Historical Museum
Open year round, the interpretative exhibits tell the story of settlement and development of the Leelanau peninsula from the time the first lighthouse was built on South Manitou Island.
